April 2026 is stacked with video game releases across every major platform, from long-awaited console exclusives to quirky indies. The volume alone is impressive, and even the biggest gaming outlets do not always agree on the details.

Why April 2026's Release Calendar Is Harder to Track Than Usual

Two major outlets, IGN and Eurogamer, both published extensive April 2026 release lists. They overlap on most titles, but the discrepancies are telling. Take Starfield's PS5 debut, for instance. Eurogamer lists April 7, while IGN points to April 14. Neither outlet explains the difference, which is a good reminder that release dates remain fluid right up until launch day.

Then there is the platform sprawl. Some games are hitting nearly everything with a screen. Others are locked down tight. That variety defines the month more than any single genre or publisher.

1. Pragmata (April 17)

Capcom's mysterious Pragmata finally arrives on April 17 across PS5, Switch 2, Xbox, and PC. Beyond the publisher and platforms, details remain scarce in pre-release coverage. Still, the breadth of platform support suggests Capcom is treating this as a major cross-platform push rather than a niche experiment.

2. Hades II Consoles and Pokémon Champions (April 8-14)

April 14 brings Hades II to PS5 and Xbox, extending the roguelike sequel well beyond its PC origins. Just days earlier on April 8, Pokémon Champions arrives on both Switch 1 and Switch 2, with Eurogamer confirming the same date and dual-platform listing. Those two titles alone cover a wide spectrum of player interest, from competitive Pokémon to critically beloved indie action.

3. The April 16 Cluster

April 16 is absurdly packed. Mouse: P.I. for Hire launches across PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox, and PC. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream hits Switch with a playable demo available. Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss arrives on PS5, Xbox, and PC. The Amusement lands on PCVR and Meta Quest 3. Four distinct games, four different platform strategies, all on one Tuesday.

4. A PS5 Exclusive to Close the Month (April 30)

On April 30, Saros arrives as a PS5 exclusive, closing out the month with a platform-exclusive title that could make Sony's console the place to be heading into May.

What the Conflicting Dates Really Tell Us

The takeaway here is not about any single game. It is about how unpredictable release calendars have become, even for major publications. When Eurogamer and IGN disagree on Starfield's PS5 date by a full week, that says more about the state of game distribution than any preview ever could. So which of these April releases are you picking up first, and how many are you waiting on reviews for before committing?
